hard news from home.

This morning I received an email from my mom stating that my aunt, uncle, cousin and my cousin's boyfriend were hit by a semi while waiting at a signal. My cousin seems to be fine physically but Sandi (my aunt) is suffering from a punctured lung, broken ribs, and a lacerated spleen. She is in ICU and will probably come home in three days. Jim (my uncle) has some broken ribs and is emotionally a wreck. He will probably come home tomorrow. Natanya desperately needs our prayers as she watches both of her parents suffer and her boyfriend, Brandon, on full life support. It will take a miracle for recovery. It took the jaws of life to get him out of the mangled car.

Matt (my boyfriend) is taking this pretty hard too. It is hard for him to see his best friend in this condition. This summer has already been challenging for him with many changes.

Also, my mom mentioned that my grandpa may have cancer- they're waiting on test results.

Please join me in praying for my family. That God's glory will be shown in these circumstances. Pray for healing, understanding, and comfort.

Pray that I'll know how to comfort and how to support my family while still being effective here.

For His glory,
Lindy

  1. An update:

Sandi is out of the ICU and will likely be released soon. Jim may have already been released. Natanya is still fine, she's at OHSU most of the day so she can see Brandon. Brandon has made a miraculous turn-around and has gone from essentially 0 brain function to being able to move all appendages, understand words, and his eyes are responsive to light...all in a period of about 40 hours. Such a thing is unheard of and his case will probably be published in a medical journal especially because the doctors did NOTHING to him in terms of surgery (except to relieve the initial pressure in his brain).

That's the kind of work Jesus does.

I am humbled by how the Church has responded with prayer to the situation of my brother and friend in Christ. All of you who have taken as little as a second to pray, thank you.

Please continue to pray for healing both physical, emotional and spiritual. Everyone involved still needs it.
